It is amazing how the media and some governments try to teach that Islam teaches killing is alright when in fact this is what is said in the Qur'an which people need to know.
Al-Qur'an, 002.062 (Al-Baqara [The Cow])
English Translation
Those who believe (in the Qur'an), and those who follow the Jewish (scriptures), and the Christians and the Sabians,- any who believe in Allah and the Last Day, and work righteousness, shall have their reward with their Lord; on them shall be no fear, nor shall they grieve.
English Transliteration

Al-Qur'an, 004.093 (An-Nisa [Women])
English Translation:
If a man kills a believer intentionally, his recompense is Hell, to abide therein (For ever): And the wrath and the curse of Allah are upon him, and a dreadful penalty is prepared for him.
English Transliteration

Al-Qur'an, 004.171 (An-Nisa [Women])
English Translation
O People of the Book! Commit no excesses in your religion: Nor say of Allah aught but the truth. Christ Jesus the son of Mary was (no more than) a messenger of Allah, and His Word, which He bestowed on Mary, and a spirit proceeding from Him: so believe in Allah and His messengers. Say not "Trinity" : desist: it will be better for you: for Allah is one Allah: Glory be to Him: (far exalted is He) above having a son. To Him belong all things in the heavens and on earth. And enough is Allah as a Disposer of affairs.

Al-Qur'an, 005.032 (Al-Maeda [The Table, The Table Spread])
English Translation
On that account: We ordained for the Children of Israel that if any one slew a person - unless it be for murder or for spreading mischief in the land - it would be as if he slew the whole people: and if any one saved a life, it would be as if he saved the life of the whole people. Then although there came to them Our messengers with clear signs, yet, even after that, many of them continued to commit excesses in the land.

Let us take a step further and understand what Prophet Muhammad (The Unlettered Prophet) (PBUH) said about killing.
The Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace) said: "When two Muslims meet with drawn swords, both the slayer and the slain go to hell.
Someone said: "O Messenger of Allah, that is for the slayer, But why the slain?" And he replied, "Because he meant to kill the other."
The Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace) said, "Beware of going to extremes [in religion], for those before you were only destroyed through excessiveness."
(Munawi:) Ibn Taymiya says, "His saying 'Beware of going to extremes in religion' is a general prohibition applying to all types of extremes, whether in beliefs or works"
The Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace) said: "By Him in whose hand is my soul, none of you will enter paradise until you believe, and none of you will believe until you love each other. Shall I not tell you of something which if you do it will create love among you? Increase the custom of greeting each other with 'as'Salamu 'alaykum.'"
