Aref Khatib has been a professional magician and balloon twister for over 30 years (since 1974) and he developed the Say No and Go program from his real life experiences. He was a victim of a drunk driver who was also hooked on all kinds of illegal drugs. A woman was driving her car with no insurance, no driver�s license and a broken arm in a cast while hitting him head on at 40 miles per hour in front of Mt. Prospect Plaza in Mount Prospect, Illinois. She was so messed up with drugs and alcohol in her system that she beat up the police and hospital staff without even knowing what she was doing. She did not get scratch from the car accident even though her car was considered to be totaled; however Aref was hurt badly even though he didn't know the extent of it until much later. His HMO Doctor told him there was nothing wrong with his back so he dealt with the pain and suffered for many years. He finally went to another doctor and found out that this accident broke one of his vertebrae in his spine and three of his discs popped out completely. After having his surgery ten years after the accident, which cost over $75,000.00, his doctor was amazed that he was still walking after all these years. Aref put together his magic and balloons and created his "Say No and Go" program which teaches people of all ages why they should Say No to drugs, alcohol, cigarettes, violence, terrorism and all inappropriate behavior. Now it has become the Say No and Go Society and we are looking for members throughout the world. In 1994 Aref Khatib was performing at a grammar school in North Chicago, Illinois and he will never forget what happened. A five year old girl raised her hand after the show and said: "I know it is not right to do these things, but how do I get my parents to stop?" Aref asked this young child what her parents were doing and she replied: "They drink alcohol, do all kinds of drugs, smoke cigarettes and marijuana and hit each other all the time." At first he didn't know what to say but God gave him the answer immediately. Aref said: "From now on if they ever do this in front of you, please go right to your room by saying no and go and perhaps your parents will stop one day."
The remarkable thing about this is three months later Aref received a telephone call from the Principle of the school and informed him that these parents finally asked their daughter why she is always going to her room. She told them that she knew that what they were doing was wrong and that she didn't want to be around this at all. Her parents realized that moment that they needed help and went to a rehabilitation program right away. This is the impact the Say No and Go Society has been able accomplish throughout North America and now we want to expand it throughout the world. We make it so entertaining with colorful balloon twisting sculptures for the children while we tell his true story which gets the children and adults involved. The magic which Aref has developed has wonderful and meaningful true stories. This makes the everyone understand that they are our future and they should stand up for their rights and be part of the Say No and Go Society! They no longer have to be around drugs, alcohol, cigarettes, violence or inappropriate behavior. They realize how we must stop the terrorism by being aware or our surroundings and reporting suspicious activity throughout their community. Suddenly they feel important and realize that they can make a difference by being part of the Say No And Go Society. They learn the difference between being just a child and becoming A Just Child by standing up for what is right and forbidding what is wrong. They know that they are making a difference by joining the Say No and Go Society which is spreading throughout the world.
